In special remainder to baronetcy : The male descendants of Lieut.-Col. George Dashwood, brother of ist baronet, of whom Sir Thomas Peyton, 5th baronet, is senior representative [see Peyton, Bart.]. Alderman George Dashwood, of London, undertook, with others, to farm the whole revenue of the kingdom of Ireland temp. Charles II. He afterwards, with others, farmed the whole revenues of excise and hearth money in England, and was a Commissioner of Revenue till his death in 1682. A patent of baronetcy was granted to him, but as he did not take it out, his widow was given the precedence of a baronet's widow, while a new patent of baronetcy was granted to his son. The ist baronet of this creation was M.P. for Banbury, the 2nd was M.P. for Oxfordshire, and the 3rd M.P. for Woodstock. Alderman Francis Dashwood, of London, elder brother of Alderman George Dashwood (ante), was father of Sir Francis Dashwood, ist baronet, of West Wycombe.
