Resigned 25th Oct. 1571- Robert Hoveden, M.A., was elected 12th, and ad- mitted 16th Nov. 1571. He died 25th March 1614, fetat. 69, and was buried in the chapel. He became prebendary of the third stall, Canterbury. Richard Moket, S.T.P., succeeded in April 1614. He died 6th July 1618, and was buried in the chapel. Richard Astley, S.T.P., succeeded in July 161 8. He died 23rd Feb. 1635, and was buried in the chapel. Gilbert Sheldon, S.T.P., succeeded in the middle of March 1635, and was deprived by the Parliament - visitors in 1648. John Palmer, alias Vaulx, M.B., was put in by the same authority that ejected his predecessor 30th March 1648. He died 4th March 1659-60, and was buried in the college chapel. Gilbert Sheldon, S.T.P., was restored in 1660, and resigned in Jan. following. He became bishop of London, and archbishop of Canterbury. John IMeredith, LL.D., was elected 21st Jan. 1660. He became provost of Eton; died 16th July 1665, and was buried in the chapel. Thomas James, M.A. (afterwards S.T.P.), was elected 3rd Aug. 1665. He died 5th Jan. 1686, and was bu- ried in the chapel. Leopold William Finch, M. A., was admitted 21st Jan. 1686, and died in Dec. 1702. He became pre- bendary of the twelfth stall, Canterbury. Bernard Gardiner, LL.D., succeeded in 1702.
