MAGDALEN COLLEGE Was founded by William Patten, alias Waynflete, bishop of Winchester. License to found the hall of St. Mary Magdalen 6th May 1448^6. Charter of foundation of the college dated i8th July 1458. Statutes given in the year 1479. PRESIDENTS. John Hoeley or Horsley, S.T.B., was nominated by the founder 28th Aug. 1448, and resigned in 1458. William Tybard, S.T.B., succeeded 12th July 1458. He resigned in 1480, and 17th Nov. the same year he was buried in the chapel. Richard Mayew or Mayhewe, S.T.P., late fellow of New college^ was admitted at the nomination of the founder, 23rd Aug. 1480, Bishop of Hereford in 1504. He had a grant of pardon 19th Jan. 1489^7. He held it in 15056*^. John Claymond, S.T.B.^ succeeded in 1505 ; he re- signed 2nd Dec. 15 16, and became president of Corpus Christi college. John Higden, S.T.P., was elected about 17th Dec. 15 16, and resigned 6th Nov. 1525. He became dean of Cardinal college ^^' Lawrence Stubbs, S.T.P., was elected 21st Nov. 1525, and resigned in 1527.
