TRINITY COLLEGE. 571 David Gregory, S.T.P., was nominated to this deanery 7th May 1756, vice Dr. John Coneybeare, bishop of Bristol, deceased. He died i6th Sept. 1767. William Markham, S.T.P., was nominated to this deanery in Oct. 1767, vice Dr. Gregory deceased. He was promoted to the see of Chester in 1771, and held this deanery in commendam by dispensation until he was promoted to the archbishopric of York in 1777. Lewis Bagot, S.T.P., was appointed in 1777, vice Dr. Markham. He was elected bishop of Bristol in 1782, and held this deanery in commendam to fj^^j when he was translated to Norwich, and resigned this deanery. Cyril Jackson, D.D., appointed in 1783, vice bishop Bagot. He resigned the dignity in 1 809 ; and died 31st Aug. 1819, setat. y^. Charles Henry Hall, D.D., was appointed 31st Oct. 1809, vice Dr. Cyril Jackson resigned. He resigned this deanery for that of Durham in 1824; and died i6th March 1827, setat. 6^. Samuel Smith, D.D., nominated nth Feb. 1824, vice Dr. Hall, and admitted ist March 1824. He resigned this dignity in 1831. Thomas Gaisford, D.D., nominated 10th Oct. 1831, and admitted on the J 5th of the same month, vice Dr. Smith resigned.
