32. Ne gehȳrde wē nǣfre on worulde þæt ǣnig ontȳnde þæs ēagan þe wǣre blind geboren.

33. Ne mihte þēs nān þing dōn, gif hē nǣre of Gode.

34. Hig andswaredon and cwǣdon tō him, Eall þū eart on synnum geboren, and þū lǣrst ūs? And hig drifon hine ūt.

35. Đā sē Hǣlend gehȳrde þæt hig hyne drifon ūt, þā cwæð hē tō him, þā hē hine gemitte, Gelȳfst þū on Godes Sunu?[1]

36. Hē andswarude and cwæð, Hwylc is, Drihten, þæt ic on hine gelȳfe?[2]

37. And sē Hǣlend cwæð tō him, þū hine gesāwe, and sē ðe wið þē sprycð, sē hit is.

38. Đā cwæþ hē, Drihten, ic gelȳfe. And hē fēoll nyþer, and geēaðmēdde hyne.

39. And sē Hǣlend cwæð tō him, Ic cōm on þysne middaneard tō dēmenne, þæt þā sceolon gesēon þe ne gesēoð; and bēon blinde þā þe gesēoð.[3]

40. Đā þæt gehyrdon þā Pharisei þe mid him wǣron, ðā cwǣdon hig tō hym, Cwyst þū synt wē blinde?

41. And sē Hǣlend cwæð tō him, Gif gē blinde wǣron, næfde gē nāne synne. Nu gē secgað þæt gē gesēon; þæt is ēowre synn.[4]
