17. þæt wǣre gefylled þæt þe gecweden wæs þurh Isaiam þone wītegan, þus cweþende,[1]

18. Hēr is min cnapa þone ic gecēas, mīn gecorena on þām wel gelīcode mīnre sāwle; ic āsette mīnne Gāst ofer hyne, and dōm hē bodað þēodum.[2]

19. Ne flīt hē, nē hē ne hrȳmð; nē nān man ne gehȳrþ hys stemne on strǣton.[3]

20. Tōcwȳsed hrēod hē ne forbrytt, and smēocende flex hē ne ādwǣscþ, ǣr þām þe hē āworpe dōm tō sige.[4]

21. And on hys naman þēoda gehyhtað.

Đys [godspel] sceal on þone þryddan sunnandæg innan lencten.

22. Đā wæs him brōht ān dēofolsēoc man sē wæs blind and dumb; and hē hyne hǣlde, swā þæt hē spæc and geseah.[5]

23. And þā menigeo ealle wundrudon, and cwǣdon, Cweðe wē is þēs Dauides sunu?[6]

24. Sōþlīce þā þā sundorhālgan þis gehȳrdon, þā cwǣdon hig, Ne ādrīfþ ðēs dēoflu ūt, būton þurh Belzebub dēofla ealdre.[7]

25. Sē Hǣlend sōþlīce wiste hyra[8] geþancas, and
