hig eardigeað þǣr; and þonne wurðaþ þæs mannes ȳtemestan wyrsan þonne þā ǣrran. And swā byð þysse wyrrestan cnēorysse.[1]

46. Đā hē þās þing þā gȳt spæc tō þām mænegum, þā stōd hys mōdor and his gebrōðra þǣr ūte, sēcende spæcon tō him.[2]

47. Sōþlīce þā cwæþ sum tō him, Witodlīce þīn mōdur and þīne gebrōþra standaþ hēr ūte, þē sēcende.[3]

48. And hē andswarode hym secgendum and cwæð, Hwylc ys mīn mōdur? and hwylce synt mīne gebrōþra?[4]

49. And hē āþenede hys hand on his leorningcnihtas, and cwæð,[5]

50. Witodlīce swā hwylc swā wyrcþ mīnes Fæder willan þe on heofenan is, he is mīn brōþur, and mīn swustor, and mōdor.[6]
