each of from nine to ten seconds' duration occurred; another shorter one at 8 P.M.; and at 5 A.M. on the 7th, another more severe shock of from five to six seconds' duration. Although the buildings suffered no little damage, we have nothing to lament but the consternation of the people.

No. 55.Naples, 12th March.

Two undulatory shocks of earthquake were felt at Salerno, the first at 50 minutes after 2 P.M., on Sunday the 7th instant, and the second after midnight on the following Monday: both harmless, like all those which we have noticed during the last few days.

No. 57.Naples, 15th March.

About an hour and a quarter after midnight, on the 7th instant, another shock of earthquake, at first sussultatory, and then undulatory, was felt, slightly at Potenza, but severely enough in many of the other communes, of that province. In Tramutola it completely demolished the buildings, before tottering, but occasioned no death. In Montemurro, the shock was felt an hour earlier, but there are no new victims to deplore.

No. 60.Naples, 18th March.

We are grieved to announce that the shocks of earthquake still continue, in the province of Principato Citra. After the very severe one of the m'ght of the 7th at Salerno, which we mentioned in the journal of the 12th ultimo, another, still more severe, took place about half past 20 or 21 o'clock, Italian time, that day, and terrified the inhabitants of the different communes of that province, who considered it equal in intensity, to the second which occurred on the night of the 16th December. Many slight shocks followed, during the night, especially in the two communes of Vibonati, and Sapri. These shocks were all preceded by fearful noises. Sapri, Casaletto, and Vibonati, have suffered more or less damage, especially the two first, where several houses were demolished. In the first of these communes, a young girl and a child were injured, by the falling of the beams of a building, but their recovery is hoped for. The population ran to the churches to implore Divine aid,
