' ‘here were Montour men in various other Pennsylvania n ^ m e n ts as well as in regi­ ments from other States. In 1878 Company F of the National Guard w as orranizcd in Danville and was first com­ manded by Capt. P. E. Maus. Captain M aus resigned in 1880 and Dr. Jonathan Sw cisfort was elected captain. Upon his resignation John W'. Farnsworth became captain and in turn was followed by William B. Baldy, Charles P. Gearhart, J . Beaver Gearhart and F . M . Herrington, who still commands the company. Company K. 12th Regiment, Pennsylvania N.’itional Guard, volunteered in the service of the United States for the Spanish-.American war in 1898.
