Hartman, and died Feb. 24* J908, leaving two children, Cleveland and M a ria; Adam Frank, who lives on the old homestead farm in ilemlcK'k tow*nship. H e is buried at Bloomsburg. H is w ife, whose maiden name was Margaret Jano^fcC olltstcr, w as l)orn Oct. 9, 1824. and died at the age o f sixty-six ye ars; she is buried at Danville. Though he did not take any part in public affairs he w as inter­ ested in politics* first as a W hig and taler a s a Republican. He and his w ife wore mcmliers of the Gernwn Lutheran Church. They were the parents of the follow'ing children: George, o f Danrille, is unm arried: M ary mar­ ried Jam es Hulligan and after his death (sec­ ond) Daniel I,a n ic : Eugene is mentioned be­ lo w; Sarah married Charles W are, o f Dan­ ville : Clarence died young. was engaged until his enlist mem iu Captain Chalfant’s Company ( D ), 153d Regiment, i'cniisyivania State Militia* for ninety days' service. H e w as enrolled Ju n e 30, 1863* and discharged at Reading* Aug. i8» i8(>3. On March 22* 1864, he rcenlisted, b u r n in g cor|)oral in Capt. John E . Reilly’s Company ( F j* 187th Pennsylvania X’oUmlcer Infantry* for three years. Assigned to the ist Brigade, ist Division* 5th A rm y Corps, of the A rm y of the J'otomac. he ]iarticipatcd in all its l>attlcs from Cold H arbor until after the engagement at Weldon railroad. Then he w as relieved from <luty ac the front and sent to the State of Pennsylvania. He served as one of the es­ corts when President Lincoln’s body w as re­ ceived in f'hiladclphia and conducted it to the Statchouse. V]x>n receiving his discharge, Aug. 3* 1865, at Harrisburg, he returned to DanviUe and resumed work in the employ o f Waterman & Heaver; later he w as em­ ployed ill the old Rough and Keady mill, and also in the Cootxrative mill. On M ay 3 1 . 1875, Mr. Lenhart left Danville and removed 10 Berwick, where he entered the employ of the Jackson X: Woodin M anufacturing C ompany as puddlcr and roller, continuing with them aliout eighteen years, until he embarked in the wholesale and retail ice cream busi­ ness. also handling newspapers. He sold out after conducting this business about twelve years and took a position in the general offices of the American C ar and Foundry Com pany .It Bcrw'ick, where he remained three years. H e was then appointed janitor of the cou rt­ house at Hloomsburg, and held (hat position four years* since when he has been li%*ing re ­ tired. at Berwick. M r. IvCnhart w as married at Bloom sburg to Sarah M aria M ills, who was born Ju n e 9, 1R48. at W ilkes-Barre, daughter o f Jo h n Becmer ,ind X ancy ( Ijiffc r ty ) M ills. H er father* lK>m Feb. 23. 18 12, was an attorney and in practice .some years at Danville, whence he removed lo Jerscytow n, Pa.* later r e lu m ­ ing to D anville: he died Oct. 22. i 8qo. M rs.
