Upon reaching his m ajority he joined his brother Am os in buving a farm, disposing o f his interest the following year and later buying another which he also sold. In 1876 he bought the fan n now known as the E zra V.istine estate and in 1877 buik on it (he brick house. In the spring o f 1895 he removed to Danville. Pa., residing on West Market street. H e died Feb. 24, 1896. and was buried in a lot tosidc his parents in the Lutheran cemctety in M aybcriy township, Montour county. He was a successful farm er and at the time o f his death w.is a director of the Danville National Bank. Politically he was a Republican, and he filled the office o f county commissioner from iHyt to 1874. Afrs, V'astine was the daughter of F elix Lerch, one of the woncer settlers of Mount Carmel.
