The word 7%, not in the sense of a son but in that of a father or a guardian is often found in the works of Vijay Gupta and other poets. In the former poem we find the desciples of Dhanvantari addressing him as @{%, and the goddess Padma addressing her father Civa by the same word. 1 is evident that the modern @fq1s derived from 3% and it originally meant a father as the word বাপ does now. The words of which a list is given above occur in nearly all the old works comprised within this chapter. For the sake of convenience, however, | refer in most cases to particular authors from whose works [ happened to note them.
