She descends two steps, holding a dog in her right arm and looking round to the left at a monkey chained to a pillar over which a cover is thrown. The lady wears a cherry-coloured satin skirt embroidered with gold, a bodice and another skirt of white satin slashed with red satin. She has a pearl necklace, bracelets, ear-rings, and a double chain on her bosom with pearl clasps. On the terrace are a gentleman reading and two persons conversing. On the left a messenger sits at a table, above which hangs a large mirror. Signed in full, and dated 1665 ; canvas, 25^ inches by i inches. Sales. L. B.
