Mr. Renwick presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Spring Arbor, in the county of Jackson, in relation to a territorial rod. Laid on the table.
Mr. Hascall presented the claim of John M. Cummins for services rendered in inspecting the 4th regiment of the second brigade of Michigan militia. Referred to the committee on claims.
On motion of Mr. Stockton,
Resolved, That the committee on printing be instructed to report a bill to provide for the publication of the laws and journals of the present session.
Mr. Hascall, from the committee on the judiciary, reported
A bill to provide for taking a census and for other purposes; and
A bill to repeal an act entitled "an act for the punishment of idle and disorderly persons.
Mr. Martin, from the committee on the judiciary, leported A bill to amend the acts concerning judgments and executions;
A bill to authorize the sale of certain lands;
A bill to amend the act entitled "an act to provide for the inspection of certain articles therein mentioned;"
A bill in addition to the several acts for the support and maintenance of the poor.
Mr. Millington, on leave granted, introduced
A bill to amend the act entitled "an act to incorporate the Detroit and St. Joseph Rail Road Company."
The foregoing bills were severally read the first time.
Mr. Martin, from the committee on the judiciary, to whom was referred the petition of Sidney S. Hawkins, relative to auction duties, made an unfavorable report thereon.
Mr. Doty moved that the report do lie on the table. Lost.
The said report was then concurred in.
