in the snow for every step, so it was necessary to hold on by the saddle, approx. 1 ½ hour ride it tends take to be there, but I spent over 2 hours. Finally, we were there, and I could help the poor woman, thank God, but the pulse was miserable after great blood loss, so I had no hope that she would survive the affair. It's often so sad that people call you at the last moment. - It was completely dark before I reached home in the evening. I had two Turks leading the way and carrying the bag with the instruments, they fell deep; in many places there was only water, when it rained; They thought it was sad, but laughed when I said I also was wet despite a good raincoat. They were very kind and helpful. - I have so much to do among the sick for the last two months, especially there were many typhus, pneumonia and flu cases, I was out on sick visits from morning to night. Now it's a little quieter.

01.30.14. Yesterday I was in a village to inspect the schools and instead of the school children I found some village people gathered in the school room, they did some writing and calculating, and they had quietly sent the children away that day. I was very saddened when I discovered it, because the teacher in that village tends to be faithful in his deed. No, you have to be everywhere and oversee otherwise it is not possible. – I wonder if a faithful doctor would report to Musch. One is very needed here. May the Lord supply the right workers for this area.

On my birthday I had a coffee-gathering here with me, I had baked both "sugar bread" and "monser" and other cakes. The three sisters and our Armenian staff gathered with me, and we had a nice afternoon together with singing, conversation and lastly a devotion. In the early morning, the teachers and later our baby girls sang several pretty and spiritual songs outside my door. I got several beautiful gifts too, and think a narcissus, it is a rarity to see a flower here in the winter time. Sister Alma had grown it.

Whenever I’m about to write letters, I never have peace of mind, almost incessantly there’s people who want to talk to me, either poor, or to get advice or medicine for the sick or other kind of work. In the evening I am very tired during this time, especially the outpatient work is strenuous. People are constantly coming in and out and I often feel tired of thinking, researching and explaining; but know that the Lord is near, and He will give power, patience and love to everything.

Sincerely

Sister Bodil Biørn.
