FES FERGUSON, JAMES. Decisions of the Court of Session, from the year 1738 to 1752, collected and digested into the form of a Dictionary, fol. Edinburgh. 1775. FERGUSON, WILLIAM D. A Treatise on the Practice of the Courts of Queen's Bench, Common Pleas, and Exchequer of Pleas, in Ireland, in Personal Actions and Ejectments. 2 vols. 8vo. Dublin. 1841-42. Ferguson's Practice is a thorough and carefullywritten treatise, which is much esteemed. It has been favorably noticed by the Bench in Ire- land, and Professor Napier remarks : " Of the treatises which have appeared on the practice of the Courts, I may especially allude to that of Mr. Ferguson, a work of very great merit and very considerable accu- racy." 1 Leg. Rep. 248, 118 ; 3 Irish Law Reports, 446. . Forms and Precedents of Practical Proceedings and Pleadings in the Courts of Q. B., C. P. and Exch. of Pleas in Ireland ; with References to the Practice. 8vo. Dublin. 1845. FERRALL, S. A. Exposition of the Law of Parliament, as it relates to the Power and Privilege of the Commons' House; to which are added the Proceedings in the Principal Questions of Privilege which have arisen in Parliament; also, those argued and determined in the Courts of Westminster Hall. 8vo. London. 1837. FERRIERE, C. J. DE. The History of the Roman or Civil Law, translated into English, by John Beaver ; to which is added Dr. Duck's Treatise of the Use and Authority of the Civil Law in England. 8vo. London. 1724. The author appears to have made pretty free use of Gravina in com- piling his work, which he first published, I2mo., Paris, 1718. It is a mere epitome, and of comparatively little value. FESSENDEN, THOMAS GREEN. An Essay on the Law of Patents for New Inventions. 2d ed. 8vo. Boston. 1822. This work is wanting in method, and is very much made up by the insertion of Cases in tolidem verbis, without a very successful attempt to deduce the general principles of the law of Patents. 18 A. J. lOG ; Ifi N. A. Rev. 199. . The American Clerk's Companion and Attorney's Prompter. 1815. 307
