ROE ROBINSON, M. Tlie Insolvent Debtor's Guide, containing full Directions to persons under Imprisonment for Debt, in the several stages of their Application to the Court. 8vo. London. 1817. ROBINSON, ROBERT. A Discourse Concerning Inheritance in Fee-simple, with a Calendar of the Persons Inheritable ; wherein the whole Course of the Descent is laid down according to the Laws of England ; and the Degree, Rights, and Claims of Con- sanguinity are proved and explained, pursuant to the Civil and Canon Laws. 2d ed. 8vo. London. 1755. " Many parts of this work are ingeniously written ; but unfortunately, the author has chiefly exerted his talents in inventing a new calendar of Consanguinity, the exploration of which ennploys a very considerable part of the work ; and by always referring to this, and by introducing a number of arbitrary terms, which are only intelligible as he explains them, he involves his subject, before too much embarrassed with diffi- culties, in still greater perplexity." Cok. Lit. 10 b. n. ; Hale's C. L. 304, n. ROBINSON, T. The Common Law of Kent, or Custom of Gavel- kind. 3d edition, with Notes and References. By J. Wilson, 8vo. London. 1831. ROCCUS, FRANCISCUS. De Navibus et Naulo. Item de As- securationibus notabilia. Accedunt ejusdem selecla Responsa. 12mo. Amsterdam. 1708. The entire works of Roccus were printed in two volumes, folio, Na- ples, 1G55. The Amsterdam edition is a selection from the larger work, edited by a Dutch Jurist. The latter was translated into English by J. R. Ingersoll, 8vo., Philadelphia, 1809. In the composition of his work, Roccus freely used the productions of his contemporaries and predeces- sors, to which he added sound and practical remarks of bis own. This manual is very highly esteemed by commercial lawyers in all countries, for its compressed, methodical, and accurate learning, and is a book of high authority. "The translation is executed with great judgment and accuracy, and may well supply the place of the original." Dup. Bynk. 29; 7 N. A. Rev. 337; 3 Kent, 346; Intro. Prick's Jacob. 27, 265, n.; Red.
