quests and overthrow of enemies, as the kingdom of David: nor in peace and splendor, as the kingdom of Solomon: and when our Master looked upon the throne of the Kingdom, behold, he was not there sitting in the flesh, neither he himself nor any fleshly presence; and the Kingdom itself was seen to be no kingdom at all, such as men use to call kingdoms, but only a Congregation of the souls of men, called out from all the tribes of the earth, and built up together upon the Rock of his spiritual presence, established in our hearts through faith; and the faith, which had before seemed perchance to be a means to an end, was now seen to be the end itself and the Kingdom itself; and the Kingdom was now near, yea it was among us, and already established.
