Debentures, due fince Ds- cembcr 24. tjo be fi'ii. &c. fler to them, on or before the firft Day o{ January next enfuing, for the true and faithful Execution, to the beft of their Knowledge and Power, of their feveral refpeftive Trufts committed to their Charge and In- fpeftion, and that they will not take or receive any Reward or Gratuity, dire<5lly or indirectly, other than their i^efpeftive Salaries, and what is or fhall be allowed them from the Crown, or the regular Fees eftar .blifhed by Law, for any Service done or to be done in the Execution of their Employment in the Cuftoms, on any Account whatfoever. And every other of the faid Commiffioners, and the Patent Officers, and every of their Deputies, Clerks or Servants, and all other Officers who have or (hall have any Employment in or about their Majefties Cufloms within the Port o( London, fhall before the firft Y!)?iY of February next enfuing, or at their refpedlive Admiilions hereafter to their refpefiive Employments, take the faid Oath be- fore any Two Commiffioners of the Cuftoms, who are hereby authorized to adminifter the fame unto them, after they fliall themfelves have taken the faid Oath as aforefaid. And all and every fuch other Pa- tent Officers, and every of their Deputies, Clerks or Servants, and all other Officers who have or fhall have any Employment in or about their Majefties Cuftoms in the Out Ports, or elfewhere, fhall before the five and twentieth Day of Afart-/; next enfuing, or at their refpeftive Admiffions into their refpeftive Employ- ments, take the faid Oath before Two Juftices of the Peace, in the County, Town, or Place, where his or their ±.mployments flialt be, who are hereby authorized and req.uired to adminifter the fame accordingly. And when any new Commiffion fliall be at any Time hereafter made or granted for the conftituting of Com- miffioners of the Cuftoms, the faid Oath {hall be adminiftred and taken in like Manner by the feveral and refpeflive nevv Commiffioners,, as is. before directed. And if any of the faid Commiffioners or Officers, their Deputies, Clerks or Servants,, fhuli iiegleft or refufe to take the faid Oath in fuch Manner as is hereby direfted and. appointed, every fuch Perfon fo refuimg or neglefling fhall forfeit fuch his Office or Employment. VI. And be it further enafled by the Authority aforefaid. That the Perfons hereby refpeftively autho- rized and required to adminifter the Oath hereby appointed to be taken, fhall certify the taking thereof to the next General Qiiarter-Seffions of the Peace, to be held for the Coimty, City or Place, where fuch Oath (hall be adminiftred and taken ; which Certificate fhall be recorded and kept amongft the Rolls of the faid General Quarter -Seffions. VII. And leaft any Doubt ihould arife by the Intermiffion or Difcontinuance of the Duties hereby granted, whether Debentures for any Goods and Merchandize exported, or any Allowances or Abatements for any Damage or Defefts upon any Goods or Merchandize imported, or for Over-entries, which according to the ordinary Couffe of the Cuftoms ought to have been made or paid, fhall be due and payable out of the Duties hereby granted ; it is hereby further enacted. That all fuch Debentures, Allowances and Abate- ments, as have incurred or grown due, according to the common Rules and Courfe of the Cuftoms, fince the four and twentieth Day oi December in the Year of our Lord one thoufand fix hundred and ninety^ fhall ftill remain due and payable, and be allowed in their ordinary Courfe, as if no fuch Intermiffion or Difcontinuance had been made. CAP. II. Parliament to be -^^ ^^ f^^" ^^'^^ frequcnt Meeting and Calling of Parliaments. Years. ' TT/ HE RE AS by the ancient Laws and Statutes of this Kingdom, frequent Parliaments ought to be 4 Ed. 3. c. 14.. « YV held ; and whereas frequent and new Parliaments tend very much to the happy Union and good- 36 Ed. 3. c. 10. i Agreement of the King and People;' we your Majefties moft loyal and obedient Subjedts, the Lords Spi- T^w^&^Mfeff ritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled, do moft humbly befeech Your ' moft Excellent Majefties, that it may be declared and enacted in this prefent Parliament; and it is hereby declared and enafled by the King's and Queen's moft Excellent Majefties, by and with the Advice and Con- fent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled, and by the Authority of the fame. That from henceforth a Parliament fhall be holden once in Three Years at the leaft. II. And be it further enafted by the AxUthority aforefaid, That within three Years at the fartheft, from and after the Diflblution of this prefent Parliament, and fo from time to time for ever hereafter, within three Years at the fartheft, from and after the Determination of every other Parliament, legal Writs under the Great Seal fhall be ifiTued by Direftions of Your Majefties, Your Heirs and Succeflbrs, for calling, af- fembling and holding another new Parliament. III. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, that from henceforth no Parliament whatfo- ever, that fhall at any Time hereafter be called, afiembled or held, fhall have any Continuance longer than for three Years only at the fartheft, to be accounted from the Day on which by the Writs of Summons the fiiid Parliament Ihall be appointed to meet. IV. And be it further enaited by the Authority aforefaid.
