Deficiency of the Fund commonly called The General Fund, for raifing feven hundred twenty-four thoufand eight hundred forty-nine Pounds fix Shillings and ten Pence and one fifth Part of a Penny, for the Year ended at Michaelmas one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-one ; and any Sum or Sums of Money, not exceeding ten thoufand Pounds, towards the Maintenance of the Mritijb Forts and Set- tlements belonging to the Royal African Company of England, on the Coaft of Africa ; and the Sum 14,0001. for Sir of fourteen thoufand Pounds, to be applied and paid to Sir Thomas Lombe as a Reward and Recompence to him for the eminent Service he has done this Nation in difcovering, with the greateft Hazard and Difficulty, the Art of making and working the three Capital Italian Engines erected by him at Derby for making Organzine Silk, and introducing and bringing the fame to full Perfection in this Kingdom at his own great Expence. XIII. And be it enacted, That the faid Aids or Supplies, provided as aforefaid, fhall not be iffued or applied to any Ufe, Intent or Purpofe whatfoever, other than the Ufes and Purpofes before mention- ed, or for the feveral Deficiencies or other Payments, directed to be fatisfied thereout, by any parti- cular Claufe or Claufes for that Purpofe contained in any other Act or Aits of this prefent Seffion of Parliament. XIV. And as to the faid Sum of fifty-eight thoufand fix hundred and eighty-eight Pounds and two Shillings, by this Act appropriated on Account of Half-pay as aforefaid ; it is hereby enacted and declared by the Authority aforefaid, That the Rules herein after, prefcribed fhall be duly ob- ferved in the Application thereof; that is to fay, that no Perfon fhall have or receive any Part of the fame, who was a Minor and under the Age of fixteen Years, at the Time when the Regiment, Troop or Company, in which he ferved, was reduced; that no Perfon (hall have or receive any Part of the fame, except fuch Perfons who did actual Service in fome Regiment, Troop or Company ; that no Perfon having any other Place or Imployment of Profit, Civil or Military, under his Majefty, fhall have or receive any Part of the faid Half-pay ; that no Chaplain of any Garifon or Regiment, who has any Ecclefiaftical Benefice in Great Britain or Ireland, fhall have or receive any of the faid Half- pay ; that no Perfon (hall have or receive any Part cf the fame, who hath refigned his Commifilon, and has had no Commillion fince ; that no Part of the fame (hall be allowed to any Perfon by virtue of any War- rant or Appointment, except to fuch Perfons who have been otherwife intitled to the fame as reduced Officers ; and that no Part of the fame fhall be allowed to any the Officers of the five Regi- ments of Dragoons, and eight Regiments of Foot lately difbanded in Ireland, except to fuch as were lately taken off" the Eftablifhment of Half-pay in Great Britain. ' XV. And whereas by an Act of Parliament made in the fourth Year of his Majefty's Reign, in- ' tituled, An Ail for raifing one million tzuo hundred thoufand Pouuds^ by Annuities and a Lottery, in Manner ' therein mentioned ; and for appropriating the Supplies granted in this Sejfton of Parliament ; and for making i forth Duplicates of Exchequer Bills, Lottery Tickets and Orders loft, burnt or otherwife deftroyed, feveral ' Supplies which had been granted to his Majefty, as is therein mentioned, were appropriated to fe- ' veral Ufes and Purpofes therein expreffed, amongft which any Sum or Sums of Money, not ex- ' ceeding fixty-one thoufand one hundred fifty-eight Pounds fifteen Shillings and ten Pence, was appro- ' priated to be paid to the reduced Officers of his Majefty's Land Forces and Marines, fubject never-! • thelefs to fuch Rules to be obferved in the Application of the faid Haif-pay, as in and by the ' aforefaid Act were prefcribed in that Behalf : ' Now it is hereby provided, enacted and declared, by Overpiusof Mo- the Authority aforefaid, That fo much of the faid Sum of fixty-one thoufand one hundred fifty-eight nies allowed to Pounds fifteen Shillings and ten Pence, as is or fhall be more than fufneient to fatisfy the faid reduced Officers, according to the faid Rules by the faid Act prefcribed to be obferved in the Application thereof, or any Part of fuch Overplus, fhall or may be difpofed of to fuch Officers who are maimed or loft their Limbs in the late Wars, or fuch others as by reafon of their long Service or otherwife, his Majefty 10,000 1. for Forts of the A- fricanCompany, T.
