O S T Gracious Sovereign ; Whereas by an Aft made in the eighteenth Year of your Majefly's i8 Geo. 2. c. 5. . Reign, (intituled. An Aii for granting and continuing the Duties upon Salt, and upon Red and IFhite Herrings, for the further Term of fix Tears ; and for declaring that the Duties on Salt, which a.' ife and are payable in that Part of Great Britain, called Scotland, ftiall be fubjeH to the fame Charges thereon, as the fame Duties were liable to by the ASf of the fifth Year of the Reign rf his late Majefiy King George the Fiifi) it was ena£ted, That from and after the Determination of the Term of feven Years, mentioned in an Ad of the fourteenth Year of your A4!ajefty's Reign, (intituled. An J Sf for granting and continuing the i^Gw.z.'^.'.z, Duties upon SAt, and upon Red and White Hirrings, for the further Term of feven Tears ; and for alk-wing F-ock Salt to be ufed in making Salt from Sea Water at the Salt IVorks at Neath in the County of Glamorgan ) the feveral and refpe£live Rates and Duties upon Salt, and upon Red and IVhite Herrings, which by the faid Aft of the fourteenth Year of your Majeily's Reign were continued, fhould be funher continued for and during the Space of fix Years; and that the fame fhould be managed, raift~d, levied, coDefted, fe^ured, and paid in fuch Manner and Form, and by and under fuch Powers, Authorities, Penalties, Forfeitures, Provlfions, Reixriftions and P.egulations for managing, raifing, levying, collefting, fecuring and paying the fame, and with fuch Allowances for prompt Payment, and for Wafte of Salt carried Coaftwife, or to Ireland, and forFifii, Beef and Pork exported to Parts beyond the Seas, and with fuch Drawbacks or Debentures on Account of Duties paid or fecured to be paid for Salt exported to Parts beyond the Seas, as were particularly mentioned in the Afts recited in the (aid Aft of the eighteenth Year of your Majcfty's Reign ; and that the faid Afts therein recited, and evciy Article, R.ulc, Claufe, Riatter and Thing therein contained, or thereby referred unto, and then being in Force, and not othewife altered by that Aft, fhould be and continue in full Force and Eh-eft, for and during the faid further Term of fiv; Years, as fully and amply to all Intents and Purpofes as if the fame had been particularly recited, exprefled and enaftcd, in the Body of that Aft ; with a Provifo therein contained. That in cafe there fhould be any Surplus or Remainder of the Monies arifing by the faid Rates and Duties thereby continued, after all the Orders by the faid Aft of the eighteenth Year of your Majefty's Reign, di-efted to be made forth, and the Intereft thereof fhould be fully fatisfied and difcharged, or Money fufHcient fiiould be reiervcd for that Purpoie, fuch Surplus or Remainder of the faid Rates and Duties fhould from Time to Time be referved for the Bifpofition of Parliament, and fl-;ould not be ifTued but by Authority of Parliament, and as Ciould be dircftedbyanyfiiture Aftor Afts of Parliament in that Behalf, as by the faid Aft, I^elation being thereunto h:;d, may more fully appear: And v.'hereas all the Orders of Loan made forth in purfuance of the faid Aft of the fourteenth Year of your Majefty's Reign, together with all the Intereft due thereupon, have Tacen fully fatisfied and difcharged : And whereas the principal Sum of one million hath, in purfuance of the faid Aft of the eighteenth Year of your Majefty's Reign, been advanced and paid on the Credit of the faid Rates and Duties ; and Orders of Loan have been made forth to the feveral Contributors, for the Repayment thereof, with Litereft after the Rate of three Pounds ten Shillings />t')- Centum per Aimum : And whereas Part of the faid Orders of Loan fb made forth in puriuance of the lafl mentioned Aft,^ to- gether with all the Litcreft due thereupon, hath been already difcharged and fatisfied, and the Reildue thereof may, according to the Courfe in the faid Aft prefcribed, be paid off and diicharged before the Expiration of the Term of fix Years, for which the faid Rates and Duties were by the faid Aft of the Vol. Vll.
