WHEREAS in purfuance of an A6k of Parliament paHed in the thirty-firft Year of his Ma- Prfamble reciting Act jefty's Reign, (intituled Jn A61 for vejl'tng certain Mejfuages, Lands., Tenement i and Heredtta- 3' Gey. z. c 39, ment s, for the better fecuring his Majejifs Docks., Ships, ana Stores, tff Portfmouth, Cliatham, and Plymouth, and for the better fortifying the Town c/Portfmouth and Citadel o/" Plymouth, in Trufteesfor certain Ufes ; and for other Purpofes therein mentioned) his Majefty was molt gracioufly pleafed to iillie a Commiflion by his Letters Patent under the Great Seal oi Great Britain^ bearing Date at IVefi- minjier the twenty-feventh Day oi July in the two and thirtieth Year of his Reign, to impower and authorize certain Perfons therein named, or any five or more of them, to be Commifiioners for putting in Execution the faid Aifl ; and did give to them, or any five or more of them, full Power and Authority to do, perform and execute all Powers, Direitions, Claufes, Matters and Things whatfoever in the faid A£t contained, thereby willing them, or any five or more of them, from time to time, to proceed and a6l according to the Rules and Directions of the faid AcSt of Par- liament : And whereas by virtue of the faid Commiffion, and in purfuance of the faid Adt, five or more of the faid Commillioners, in the faid Commiffion named, did on the eleventh Day oi Sep- tember in the faid two and thirtieth Year of his Majefty's Reign, meet purfuant to Notice thereof given and fixed up at the Dock Gate of his Majefty's Yard near the Town of Plymouth, and at the Town Hall of the Borough oi Plymouth, and likewife publiflied in the London Gazette thirty Days and more before fuch Meeting, at the Houfe of Timothy Bayley, known by the Name or Sign of The King's Arms in Plymouth Dock, and did then and there, in a fummary Manner proceed and a£t by and upon the Teftimony of Witnefles, Infpe£tion and Examination of Deeds, Writings and Records, and by and upon the Inqueft of twenty Good and lawful Men, fubftantial Gentle- men and Freeholders of the County of Devon, impanelled, fummoned and returned by Peter Comyns Efquire, Sheriff of the faid County of Devon, to take the Inqueft ; twelve of which Jury did upon their Oaths enquire into and prefent the true and real Value of the fa4d Meffuages, Lands, Tenements and Hereditaments, mentioned in the faid A£t to be fituate at Plymouth and Plymouth Dock, in the faid County of Devon, and of every Part and Parcel thereof, and who re- fpedlively '^ere the Owners and Proprietors thereof, and their refpe6live Eftates and Interefts therein ; and thereupon, five or more of the faid Commiflioners then prefent did adjudge and de- termine who refpe£tively were the Owners and Proprietors of the faid Meffuages, Lands, Tene- ments and Hereditaments, zt Plymouth and Plymouth Dock aforefaid, and their refpective Eftates and Intereft therein, and in every Part and Parcel thereof, and what each refpe£tive Owner and Pro- prietor thereof was intitled to for his refpective Eftate and Intereft therein, amounting together to the Sum of twenty-five thoufand one hundred fifty-nine Pounds feventeen Shillings and fix Pence, of lawful Money of Great Britain: And whereas by virtue of the faid Commiflion, and in purfu» ance of the faid A6t, five or more of the faid Commiffioners in the faid Commiflion named did, on the firft Day of November in the faid two an thirtieth Year of his Majefty's Reign, meet purfuant to Notice given and fixed up at the Dock Gate of his Majefty's Yard at Chatham, and at the Town Hall of the City of Rochejier, and likewife publiflied in the London Gazette thirty Days and more before fuch Meeting, at the Guild Hall of the City of Roche fter, and did then and there, in a fum- mary Manner, by and upon the Teftimony of WitneiTes, Infpeilion and Examination of Deeds, Writings and Records, and by and upon the Inqueft of fifteen good and lawful Men, fubftantial Gentlemen and Freeholders of the County of Kent, impanelled, fummoned and returned, hy Tho- mas I'f^itahr YJquire, Sheriff of the faid County of Kent, to take the Inqueft; who upon their Oaths did enquire into and prefent the true and real Value of the Lands in the faid Aft mentioned to be fituate in or near Chatharn aforefaid, in the faid County of Kent, and of every Part and Par- cel thereof, and who refpedtively were the Owners and Proprietors thereof, and their refpedtive Eftates and Interefts therein , and thereupon five or more of the faid Commiflioners then prefent did adjudge and determine who refpedtively were the Owners and Proprietors of the faid Lands and Hereditaments in or near Chatham aforefaid, and their refpeftive Eftates and Interefts there- in, and in every Part and Parcel thereof, and what each refpe^ive Owner and Proprietor thereof was intitled to for his, her and their refpeftiye Eftates and Intereft therein, amounting together to the Sum of fix hundred fifty-two Pounds and ten Shillings of li^e lay/ful Money of Great Britain Vol.' VIII.
