To Thee we look, O Shepherd of Israel! to be fed with the Bread of Life, and to be refreshed with the living stream of thy truth. Cause thy light to shine around our path in this world, we beseech thee, and help us finally to obtain the crown of everlasting life.

Friday Evening.

O LORD JESUS CHRIST, thou who art the God of mercy and truth—the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sanctifier and Preserver of all, we humbly approach Thee, in whom "all the fulness of the Godhead dwells bodily," to implore thy presence and blessing at this our evening time of prayer and praise. Lord, we thank Thee for the mercies we have this day received at thy bountiful hand. We acknowledge our unworthiness, and that Thou hast not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. But as heaven is high above the earth, so great is thy mercy toward them that fear Thee. Thou hast been pleased to designate thyself as our Father, and like as a father pitieth his children, so dost Thou pity them that fear Thee. We know, O Lord, that to fear Thee is to love Thee so supremely, that a fearfulness of mind is felt lest any evil affection or thought should intrude, and thus interrupt thy perfect government and control in our souls.
