to unite our knowledge with practice, our truth with goodness, and our faith with charity; for this is a holy desire—a uniting affection gives a relish to life and a charm to all things. This holy desire is truly the salt of the earth, which preserves our union with Thee, and our lives in peace. O may we all have within us this heavenly desire wherewith to salt this our present sacrifice of prayer and praise; for this is the salt thou commandest us to have in ourselves, that we may have peace one with another. Into thy Divine keeping we now commit our spirits, and feel perfect safety under thy protecting sphere; and for all thy mercies, which are new every moment, we would render Thee. O Father! our humble gratitude and thanksgiving.

Saturday Morning.

GLORY be to Thee, O Lord Jesus! for Thou art the Lord God Almighty, the Saviour and Sanctifier of thy people. We would approach Thee at this time with humility of heart, to praise thy name for the sweet repose of the past night. We humbly offer up, O Lord, our morning song of praise to Thee, who art the Fountain of grace and goodness, the Father of mercies, and God of all comfort. Gracious Lord! we desire to be led by Thee through this day's walk of life O keep our feet from entering the crooked paths of iniquity, and guide them in the ways of life and peace. In love, gracious Father! Thou didst create us, and in pity Thou didst redeem us. Thou didst breathe into our nostrils the breath of life,
