nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful." O guard us against following the counsels of the ungodly, from standing with sinners, and from sitting in the scorner's seat; so shall our delight be continually in the law of heaven, while to meditate on the truth of thy Word in all our progressive states of life, shall be the delight and joy of our passing days. Dismiss us now with thy blessing. Lay, O Lord, thy right hand upon us, and inspire thy servants with newness of life. Under thy blessing we now close our imperfect petitions in that comprehensive prayer which Thou thyself hast taught us.

MOST holy and ever blessed Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ, help us now, we humbly beseech Thee, at the close of this day, to approach thy Divine Majesty, and to bless and praise Thee for the privileges we have hitherto enjoyed from Thee, the Giver of all good! May thy Word be always the lamp to our feet and the light to our path—our faithful guide and director to the bright regions of immortality. Open our hearts to receive with meekness both its reproofs and consolations, that so we may be corrected by the one, and made tranquil and happy by the other; then shall we realize all thy gracious promises,—then shall we hear joy and gladness, and the bones which Thou hast broken shall rejoice.
