from thee, to shun the destructive paths of pollution and vice, and diligently to do whatsoever things are honest, just, and pure, and whatsoever are lovely and of good report. O Lord of heaven, cause thy light to shine down upon us and in us, that so the inner chambers of our minds may be lit up with thy glory, and the good works of love and charity, begun and ended in Thee, may shine forth in the outward life to the glory of Thee, the Father of us, in the heavens. Thy Word assures us that not even a sparrow falleth to the ground without thy divine permission, and that "the very hairs of our head are all numbered." By this lesson of wisdom, may we know, O Lord our Saviour, that even the most trifling concerns of human life are under thy divine superintendence and control. O impress this knowledge deeply in our hearts, that so henceforth we may follow Thee in the way everlasting, and be made happy in thy kingdom and presence for ever.

MERCIFUL and ever blessed Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Creator, Redeemer, and Regenerator of the world, we approach with reverence thy throne of mercy, and pray to be guided by thine unerring wisdom in all our future journey of life. How manifold are thy mercies to us thy erring children! O bear us up still with thine everlasting arms, and guide our feet in the way of peace.
