On her Grave-ſtone in the Church-yard of Knareſborough, Is the following Epitaph,
Here lies
the Body of
URSURLA SEATHIEL,
commonly called,
MOTHER SHIPTON,
known alſo,
by the Titles of, The
Devil's Baſtard, Hag Face, &c.
who was brought into the world under
ſuch ſtrange circumſtances,
that it ſurpriſed every mortal there
preſent.
—She had a great gift of Prophecy.—
was a good neighbour,
a loving Wife,
and an affectionate friend.
She lived-till ſhe died, at the age of
threeſcore and thirteen years.
Amen, Amen, ſo let it be,
So reſt her body, and her ſ-o-u-l go free.
