York, Bart, [so cr. 23 Nov. 1762], Commissary Gen. and Contractor to the Army [1748-59], by Margaret, da. of Alexander Bruce, of Kenuet, was b. 16 Feb. 1741, and bnp. at Edinburgh ; was M.P. for Kichmond, 1763-68 ; for co. Stirling (in five Paris.), 1768-94. He sue. his father in the family estates in the counties of Stirling and York and in the Baronetcy, 21 Sep. 1781, and was on 13 Aug. 1794, cr. BAltON DUNDAS OF ASKE, co. York. He was Councillor of State to the Prince of Wales ; Lord Lieut, and Vice Admiral of Orkney and Shetland. He m. 14 May 1764, in Grosrenor street, St. Geo. Han. sq., Charlotte, 2d da. of William (Fitzwilliam), 1st Earl Fitzwilliam (3d Earl in Ireland) by Anne, da. of Thomas (Watson- Wentworth), Marquess of Hockinqham. He d. 14 June 1820, aged 79, at Aske Hull, co. York. Will pr. Nov. 1820. His widow, who was 6. 25 July 1746, d. 11 Feb. 1833. Will pr. Feb. 1833. H 1820. 2.
