She, who was b. Aug. 1755, el. (as Baroness Adare) May 1814. He m. secondly 26 Feb. 1810, Margaret Mary, widow of Col. Arthur BleNNBBHASSST, relict, formerly, of George L'Estrange, da. of James Coghlan. of Claghan House, King's county. She el. (as Viscountess Mount-Earl) 0 Nov. 1S21 in the Circus, Bath. Coll., Oxford, where he matric. 28 May 1799 ; M.P. for co. Limerick, 1806-20 ; styled Viscovkt Adare, 1322-24. Having m. 27 Dec. 1810, Caroline, da. and h. of Thomas WYSDHAM, of Dunraven Castle, co. Glamorgan (by ( a ) Some account of the families of O'Quin or Quiii is in the " Her and Gen." vol. iii, pp. 490-498 in a review of the " Mcmoricds of Adare Manor." ( b ) The christian name of " Windham," given to him (as well as to his 2d son and to his grandson, the 3d Earl) possibly represented that of " Wielcnhnm" ; his mother having been a coheir of the family of Widenham, of the Court, co. Limerick. The marriage of the 2d Earl with the heiress of Wyndham of Dunraven, in 1810, appeals to be the first connection of that family with the race of Quin. ( c ) He was one of the 20 commoners ennobled in that year, being the year of the Irish Union. See vol. 1, p. 166, note " a," sub. " Ashtown." (*) The title of " Dunraven was in honour of the possession of his son's wife, the heiress of Dunraven Castle, co. Glamorgan. See a similar instance of a peerage title taken from the estate of a da. in law, when in 1616, Lord Chancellor Ellcsmere was cr. Viscount Brackley, vol. ii, p. 2, note "b." {") It is difficult to understand why the services conferred by this gentleman ■were rewarded with a Baronetcy, a Barony, two Viscounties, and an Earldom. They appear to have rendered in the short time (1799-1800) when he was M.P. [I.] for which the Barony conferred in 1S00 would seem to have been au equivalent. See note " c," ante.
