The opinion of [Walter Burgh anil John FitzGibboii] the Chief Law Officers [I.], in their report, 26 April 17S2, on the claim to this title, states "that the evidence of the claimant's ancestors having sat and voted as Peers of Ireland from 9 Hen. VII to the commencement of the reign of William and Mary was clear, and that from the prece- dence appearing, from the journals of the House of Lords, to have been taken by the Louds Dunsany, there was strong reasons to conclude that the said title and honours existed in the claimant's family so early as the reign of Edward IV."] Barony [I.] 1. He m. secondly , Elizabeth, sister of Robert, 1st Viscount GOB.- manston [I], da. of Sir Christopher PaEsrox, of Ciormanstoti, by Jane, da. of Sit Jenico D'ABTOIS. He d., probably in 1462, or 1403. Will, in whicb he describes him- self as " Sir Xphor T'lunket, Kiit," and directs his burial to be at Killeen, dat. 1 Aug. 1402 (St. Peters-ad- Vineula, 2 Ed. IV), at Lambeth. Joan, da. and coheir of Rowland (PlTZ- Eustace), Baron Portlester [I.], by Margaret, da. of Sir Jenico D'Artois. III. 1480 ? 8. John (Plunkett), Lord Dunsany [I.], s. and h., sue. before 1482 ; was one of the knights of the Irish Order of St. George. He was one of the 15 Irish Peers( c ) sum. by Hen. VII. to Greenwich in 1489 ; sat in the Pari. [L] of 1490 and 1 493 being fined 40s. for his absence in that of 1498. He m. Catharine, da. of [— ] Hussey, territorial Baron of Galtrim. M.I. Inq. p. mortem taken at Duleek. V. 1521. 5. Robert (Plunkett), Lord Dunsany [I.], s. and li. He sat in the Pari, of 1541. He m. firstly Eleanor, da. of Sir William Darcy, of Phttten, by f — ], da. of Christopher (St. Lawrence), Lord Howth [I.] She was living 1510. He m. secondly Genet, widow of Alderman (*) It is so placed in 1489, being the lowest of the nine Baronies, whose holders were sum. in that year by Henry Vll, to Greenwich. In the Pari, of 1541 this Barony is placed next immediately after that of Killeen, and consequently before that of Howth (both cr. probably about 1430) and Trimleston, but, on the other hand, in almost all the other Paris, (including that of 1G29, when the ranking appears to ha7e been particularly attended to) the Barony of Dunsany is postponed to that of Trimleston, of which latter the creation was undoubtedly in 1401/2. ( b ) Camden, in his " Ilibernin," saya that this Christopher " tituhim Bakonis Dunsany, sua virtute, consequtus crat," while of his father he saya that " cvectus fuerat ad dignitatem Bakonis Kilun, quod [i.e., " quod" manerium, not, of course, " quod " diynitas] per uxorem, c stirpe Cusakia hajredem, ipsi obvenerat."
