[Edward Jasies Bruce, styled Lord Bruce, 1st s. and h. ap. b. 8 Juno 1881. Family EsMcs. — These, in 1883, consisted of 2,895 acres in cos. Fife and Perth, worth £5,240 a year. Principal Residence : Broomhall, near Dunfermline, co. Fife. ELIBANK. Barony [SJ. Sir Patrick Murray, Bart. [$.], of Elibank, alias I. 1643 Eliburne, co. Selkirk, s. and h. of Sir Gideon Murray, of the same, one of the Lords of Session [SJ, under the style of Lord Elibank [1613-21], by Margaret Pentland, his wife was made Keeper of the Castle of Caerlaverock, 27 June 1611; sue. his father, 28 June 1621; was cr. a Bart. [S.], 16 May 1628, and wag by pat. dat. at Oxford, 18 March 1642/3, cr. Lord ELiBANK( a ) [S.], with rem. to heirs male whatsoever. He was one of the six Peers [S.], who in Jan. 1647, opposed the delivering up of the king, by the Scots (in return for the money paid them) to tho English Pari. He m. firstly, in or before 1612, Margaret Hamilton. He m. secondly, Elizabeth, da. of Sir James Dundas, of Arniston, by whom he had four children. He m. thirdly Agnes Nicolson, who d. 7 Dec. 1637, being (more Scoeico) called " Lady Elibank " iu f nn. entry, in Lyon's office. He m. fourthly, Helen, da. of Sir James Lindsay, gent, of the Bedchamber. He d. 12 Nov. 1649. II. 1049. 2. Patrick (Murray) Lord Eubank [S.], 2d but 1st surv. s. and h , by second wife. He (v.p.) joined Montrose iu the cause of the king and was, in 1646, fined 20,000 marks by the Pari. He was served heir to his father, 27 May 1650. He m. about 1640, Elizabeth, 2d da. of John (Stewart), 1st Earl of Traqoair [S.], by Catharine, da. of David (Carnegie), 1st Earl of SouraESK [S]. He d. 13 Feb. 1661. III. 1661. 3. Patrick (Murray), Lord Elibank [S.], s. and h. ; served heir, 1 May 1662, having then attained full age. P.C. 1685 but removed in 1687 for opposing the repeal of the penal laws. He m. Anne, widow of Alexander, 7th Lord Elfhinstone [SJ (who d. s.p. May 1669), da. of Alexander Burn hit, Archbishop of St. Andrew's. He d. 1687. IV. 1687. 4. Alexander (Murray), Lord Elibank [S.], only s. and h., 6. 9 March 1677, at Edinburgh ; took tho oaths and his seat in pari. ID July 1698, voting in favour of the Union [S.] He m. 21 Feb. 1693, Elizabeth, da. of George StirLinq, of Edinburgh, surgeon, sometime M.P. for that city. He d. 6 Fob. 1735/6, in his 59th year.
