Henky (Vane), Baron Bahnaud of Barnajids Castle, was, on 3 April 1751, cr. VISCOUNT BARNARD OF BARNAHDS CASTLE aud EAKL OF DARLINGTON, co. Durham. He was s, ami b. of Gilbert (Vane), 2nd Baron Barnard, by Mary, da. and coheir of Morgan Bandyll of Chilworth, Surrey, and was 6. about 1705, was M.P. for Lauuceston, 1726-27 ; for St. Mawes, 1727 aud 1734-41 ; for Ripon, 1741-47, and for co. Durham, 1747-53; was Paymaster-Gen. [I.], 1742-44 ; a Lord of the Treasury, 1749-55 ; and sue his father in the Peerage, as Baron Barnard, 27 April 1753. He was Lord-Lieut, co. Durham also in 1753, in which year he was raised to the Earldom of Darlington as above mentioned. Was Joint Paymaster of the Forces (a very lucrative office) 1755.
