He was, however, degraded .from his lhtkednm,{ h ) 6 Oct. 1399, by the Pari, of (the new King) Henry IV. tho' he retained the Earldom of Huntingdon. Joining in the plot against tho King, be was taken prisoner and beheaded at Pleshey, co. Esses, 15 Jan. 1399/1 100, and was bur. there. She was b. about 1368 (certainly before Sep. 1309) and was, in April 1379 (as "one of the two daughters of the Duke of Lancaster "), one of the ladies for whom robes of the Garter were provided, as also (when " Duchess of Exeter) in April 1399.( c ) She m. (secondly), Sir John CORNWALL, of Fanhope, co. Hereford, who, after her death, was cr, in 1133, BARON FaNBOPB and who d. 1413, see that dignity. She el. (1425-26), 4 Hen. VI, and was bur. at Burford, Salop. M.L, at Burford and at Ampthill, Beds. II. 1I1G. Thomas Bkavfort, yst. of the three legitimated sons of to John (P[,NTAGENET, styled "OF GaCNT "), DUKE OF LANCASTER, by li'2G. Dame Katharine SwiNFonn, widow, da. of Sir Tayne Roelt, was b- about 1377 ; legitimated G Feb. 1397, by act of Pari, which was confirmed 10 Feb. 1407;() Capt. of Calais, 1400 to 1403, again 1400 and finally 1426/7, KG., 1400 ; Admiral of England, &c., 1409; P.O., 1409, Lord Chancellor, 1410-12, being, 5 July 1411, cr. EAUL OF DORSET. He was, in 1416, Lieut, of the Duchy of Normandy and was, 18 Nov. 1416, cr. DUKE OF KXETICR for life only, and was cr. 1 July 1418, Count of Ilarcourt in Normandy.^) In 1422 he was n Councillor of the Regenc}-. He St., before 140S, Margaret, da. and h. of Sir Thomas Nevill, of Hornby, co. Lincoln. She for whom (as " the Lady de Beaufort") robes of the Garter Were prepared (140S), 9 Hen. IV. d. before him and was bur. at Bury St. Edmunds. He d. s.p.s.O at Greenwich 30 Dec. 1426, and was bur. at Bury afsd.(B) when all his honours became extinct. Will dat. 29 Dec. 1426, pr. 28 Jany. l-!26/7.(") III. 1443. 1. John Holaxd, 2J but 1st suit. s. and h. of John (IIoland), Dukb of Eseter, by Elizabeth (sister to King Henry IV. ) both abovcuamed; was b. 1394; K.B., 8 April 1413; K.G., 1415, and was restored in blood as also to his father's Earldom as EAUL OF HUNTINGDON by act (") Four Dukedoms were conferred that day (1) Albemarle, on Edward (Planta- genet) Earl of Rutland, afterwards (1402) Duke of York ; (2) Surrey, on Thomas (IIoland) Earl of Kent ; (3) Exeter, on John (Holand) Earl of Huntingdon, and (4) Norfolk, on Thomas (Mowbray), Earl of Nottingham ; also one Marquessate, (hat of Dorset, on John (Beaufort), Earl of Somerset. Of these five grautees, all but Norfolk, were by the Pari. (1 Heu. IV), 6 Oct. 1399, degraded from the titles so conferred on them.
