(1296/7), 25 Ed. I., to attend the King at Salisbury(») and I. 1299. was sum. to Pari, as a Baron [LORD FITZ-PAYNE] by writs directed " Robo. fil. Pagani" from 6 Feb. (1298/9), 27 Ed. I., to 23 Oct, (1314), 8 Ed. IL He was in the Scotch wars, 1303 ; K.B., 1306 ; was at the (») This John who d. 1258), was s. and h. of John Fitz-Geoffrey-Fitz- Piers, who was a yr. s. of Geoffrey (Fitz-Pif.ks), Earl of Essex (the said John being the Baid Earl Geoffrey's son by a second wife) and was br. of the half-blood and heir to some of the estates of William (de Mandeville), Earl of Essex (the said Eurl's son by a first wife) who d. 1227. ( c ) His estates devolved on his sisters or their issue, whose names, as also the property they inherited, are very fully given in " Dugdale."
