He m. firstly, 29 Oct. 1732, Mary, widow of (— ) Hearson, da. of Matthew Lister of Burwell, co. Lincoln. She d. 1737, aged 22, and was bur. in Lincoln Cathedral. In early life he was one of the leaders of the fashion and dissipated a fine estate. He m. 18 Nov. 1763, at St Anne's Soho, Frances, widow of the Hon. Ilemy Knight, da. of Thomas Heath, of Stanstead, Essex. She, from whom he had long been separated, rf. iu a convent iu France in 1782. He d. s.p. in Charlotte street, Marylebone, Sep. 1S07, in his 71st year, when all his honours became extinct. DELVUr. [The origin of this Peerage is obscure. Its possessor in 1489 was one of the 9 Barons [I.] then (with 3 Earls and 3 Viscounts) sum. by Henry VII to Greenwich. He was then placed fifth i.e., next after Slane (the order being Athcury, ( a ) The patent is given in full in Eraser's " Scoltt of Buccleuck," vol. ii, p. 324, where, also, are letters from his mother, complaining of Ms conduct, stating that she had given him £24,000, besides £4,000, for building and furnishing his house at LeadweU. In her will, dat. 10 March 1722/3, her Grace, accordingly leaves him but £5.
