Sm Rohert Dennistoun, Sheriff of Lennox and Keeper of the Castle of Dunbarton, who d. s.p.ni., in 1399, is often spoken of as LORD DENNISTOUN [S.], but cannot, however, be considered as having acquired a peerage Barony. He d. s.p.tn., 27 Sep. 1637, when the Earldom became extinct, but the Barony devolved as under. II. 1G37, 2. He was 6. about 1605, and had sue. his father, 25 April 1636, as Earl ok Carlisle, fas, He d. s.p. 30 Oct. 1060, when all his honours became extinct. Down, with a spec, rem., failing the heir male of bis body, " to bis br. George- William Bateson-dk-Yardorgii, Esq." He m. 24 Feb. 1849 at St. James, Padding- ton, Caroline- Elizabeth- Anne, 2d da. of George-Rico (Rick-Trevor), BARON him the man always triumphed over the advocate.
