Principal Residences. Craigievar Castle, Fintray House, and Whitehouse, all in co. Aberdeen. SEMPILL Robert Sempill who on 16 July 1723, was described as " Mr. Hubert Sempill, Captain of the Kegitneut of Dillon," appears to have been, after that date, cr. a Peer of Scotland (LORD SEMPILL) by the titular King James III ( b ) He m. Elizabeth who survived him. He d. at Paris intestate. Admon. as " Robert Lord Sempill, alias Robert Sempill," 11 Nov. 1737. Francis (Sempill), Lord Sempill, s. and h., mentioned as such( c ) in the admon. aboveuamed, 11 Nov. 1737. He possibly was the Francis Sempill who m. Mary, widow of John Caryll, of Hartiug, co. Sussex (d. v.p. 8 April 1718), da. of Kenneth (Mackenzie), 4th Earl of Seafohth [S.] She was bur. at Harting 10 Sep. 1740. He d. 9 Dec. 1748, and was bur. at Si Andrew's, Chartres, in France.
