No won der then that Mr. Beal has found ample excuse for presenting to the legal world the present treatise. The work is admirable in every way and is an ex haustive exposition of the English law of bailments. The leading cases are arranged as far as possible in chronological order, thus giving the history and evolution of the law; and as the English judicial statements are given ipsissiinis vcrbis, to which are added occasional extracts from well known text books, the practitioner is saved much time and trouble. The author has, as he says, " concerned himself more with the reason and spirit of cases which make law, and the statement of general principles than with the facts." The treatise will be welcomed not only by the English liar, but will undoubtedly be accepted and recognized as a standard authority by the American bench and bar.
