ARTICLE XVIII.

The inhabitants ſhall keep their arms.

Granted, on condition that they ſerve not againſt the King of France.

ARTICLE XIX.

That none other, except the actual reſidents of the iſland, ſhall be poſſeſſed of houſes or lands, by purchaſe, or otherwiſe, till the peace; but after the peace, in caſe the iſland ſhall be ceded to the King of France, ſuch inhabitants as do not chuſe to live under the French government, ſhall be at liberty to diſpoſe of their poſſeſſions and goods, moveable and immoveable, to whom they pleaſe, and to retire where they think proper; for which purpoſe they ſhall have a reaſonable time allowed them.
