SÛRAH I

THE OPENING

Revealed at Mecca

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
¹Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,
²The Beneficent, the Merciful.
³Owner of the Day of Judgment,
⁴Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help.
⁵Show us the straight path,
⁶The path of those whom Thou hast favoured;
⁷Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.
