DEAR SIR,

I SHALL now Proceed to give you ſome account of the form of marriage among the Mahometans, which is generally ſolemnized with all the external ſhow of Oriental pageantry. The parents of the young people, firſt treat on the ſubject of uniting them in the bands of wedlock, and if they mutually agree on a connection between them, the happy pair, who were never permitted to ſee each other, nor even conſulted about their union, are joined in marriage at a very youth-
