The tenth day this paper ſtructure, which in the Indian dialect, is termed Gouwarrah, is carried to the burial ground of their ſuppoſed ſaints or holy men, and thrown into a large tank, which concludes the ceremony.

The Mahometans keep a ſtrict lent once in the year, in the month Ramzaun, for a ſpace of thirty two days: during this time, they never sleep on a bed, nor cohabit with their wives, and live only on rice and vegetables: they alſo abſtain from off their uſual enjoyments of

chewing
