¶ The xiij fable is of the asse / and of the wulf

TO none eyylle[errata 1] man feythe ne trouthe ought neuer to be adiouſted / As men may wel ſee by this fable / Of a wulf whiche vyſyted an aſſe whiche was wel ſeke the whiche wulf beganne to fele and taſte hym / and demaunded of hym / My broder and my frend where aboute is thy ſore / And the aſſe ſayd to hym / there as thow taſteſt  ¶ And thenne the wulf faynyng to vyſyte hym / beganne to byte and ſmyte hym /  ¶ And therfore men muſt not truſt flaterers / For one thynge they ſaye / and done another
