22. The sign shown in diagram 535 shall be mounted on two posts and so much of each post as extends above ground level shall be coloured black and white in alternate horizontal bands, each band being not less than 250 nor more than 335 millimetres in depth.

23.(1) The sign shown in diagram 550 or diagram 561 shall be so placed that the top of the sign is not less than 550 millimetres nor more men one metre above the surface of the carriageway in the immediate vicinity.

(2) Where the sign shown in diagram 560 or diagram 561 is mounted on a post specially provided for the purpose, that part of the post which extends above ground level shall be coloured black and white in alternate horizontal bands, each band being not less than 225 nor more than 350 millimetres in depth.

(3) The signs shown in diagrams 560 and 561 shall be so erected as to display the colour red on the edge of the carriageway viewed by the drivers of approaching vehicles and the colour where on the right-hand edge or that carriageway so viewed as aforesaid unless the said right-hand edge is the edge or the central reservation or a dual carriageway when the said signs shall be so erected as to display the colour amber on this said right-hand edge viewed by those drivers instead of the colour while.

24.(1) The road marking shown in diagram will shall not be placed on a road unless it is so placed for use in conjunction with the light signals prescribed by paragraph (2) or paragraph (4) of Regulation 31 of the Regulations or with the light signals prescribed by the said paragraph (2) as varied in accordance with Regulation 32 of the Regulations or unless it is so placed at a site where vehicular traffic is from time to time controlled by the police.

(2) Where both primary and secondary signals within the meaning of Regulation 34(6) or the Regulations have been erected, the reference in sub—paragraph (1) above to light signals prescribed by the said paragraph (2) or paragraph (4) of Regulation 31 or by the said paragraph 2 as so varied as aforesaid shall be constructed as a reference to both the primary and the secondary signals or if either the primary or secondary signals are not operating, to the primary signals operating alone or to the secondary signals operating alone as the case may be.

25. The road markings shown in diagrams 1002.1 and 1022 shall not be placed on a road unless they are so placed for use in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 601.1 or until the 31st December 1981 inclusive of that date, with any sign which can be treated as if prescribed by the Regulations until that date if it is a sign of the type shown in the diagram numbered 601 in schedule 1 to the Traffic Signs Regulations 1964; and the road marking shown in diagram 1003.4 shall not be so placed as aforesaid unless it is placed for use in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 611.1.

26.(1) Subject to sub-paragraph (4) of this paragraph, the road marking shown in diagram 1017 may be placed on a side or a road only for the purpose of indicating a statutory prohibition or restriction on the waiting of waiting which applies an side for at least eight hours during the period from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m on at least four days other than a Sunday in any week.

(2) Subject as aforesaid, the road marking shown in diagram 1018 may be placed on a side of a road only for the purpose of indicating a statutory prohibition or restriction on the waiting of vehicles which applies on that
