Humble- Whereas a Treaty between the United States of America and Servia providing for the extradition of fugitives from justice was concluded and signed by their respective Plenipotentiaries at Belpade on the twentyefifth (twelfth) day of October, one thousand nine undred and one, the original of which Treaty, being in the English and Servian lan s, is word for word as follows: °°¤¤¤<=**¤¢P•”*°*· Hm nited States of America and His Majesty the King of Servia, being desirous to confirm their friendly relations and to promote the cause of J ustice,~have resolved to cone ude a treaty for the extradition . - of flrilgitives from justice between the United States of America and the ’n dom of Servia, and have appointed for that purpose the following Plenipotentiaries: Pl°¤*P°°°¤¤*'l°* The President of the United States of America, Charles S. Francis, Envo Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to . His Majesty the Kiln of Servia. His Nlajesty the King of Servia, M. Michel V. Vouitch, President of His Council of Ministers, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator, Grand Officer of the Order of Milosh the Great, Grand Cross of the Order of Takovo, Officer of the Order of the White Eagle etc. etc., who, after having communicated to each other their res ective full powers, found in good and due form, have agreed upon and concluded the following articles: Anucm I. 0,%%;* §fQ}_,°{§ The Government of the United States and the Government of Servia with crimes mutually agree to deliver up persons who, having been charged with or convicte of an of the crimes and offenses specified in the following article, committedy within the jurisdiction of one of the high contracting parties, shall seek an asylum or be found within the territories of the other: Provided, that this shall only be done upon such evidence of criminality as, accordin to the laws of the place where the fugitive or person so charged shall be found, would justify his or her apprehension and commitment for trial if the crime or offense had been committed there.
