Be it enacted by the Senate and House of R esentatiees of the United [_ _ ]_ States of America in Congress assembled, That any person who, by ]§§§§{.{’§§°l“mb‘“· threats by himself, or through another, induces, or by any device or 1?*qH¤*S¤¤}¤¢¤*,*°*, iz; scheme inveigles, any female into a house of prostitution, or of assigna— iiiiisgiuii pigsiiisutildn, tion, in the listrict of Columbia, against her will, or by any threats °"’· or duress detains her against her will, for the urpose of prostitution or sexual intercourse, or takes or detains a iiamale against her will with intent to compel her by force, threats, menace, or duress to marry him, or to marry any other person, or if any parent, guardian, or» other person having legal custody of the person of a female consents to her taking or detention by any person for the purpose of prostitution or sexual intercourse, is guilty of pandering, and shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of not less than one nor more than five years and fined not more than one thousand dollars. Sec. 2. That any person who, against her will, shall place any female lP¤2¤i¤¤¤;·¢¤g fer in the charge or custody of any other person or persons or in a house hdiizsembt prbbltiatdtiog of prostitution with the intent that she shall live a life of prostitution, °‘°= or an person who shall compel any female, against her will, to reside with him or with an other person for the purposes of prostitution, or com(pel her against liiier will to live a life of prostitution, is gluilty of pan ering and shall be punished by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars and imprisonment for not less than one nor more than live ears. y Sec. 3. That any person who shall receive any money or other val- ce§’;{'§h§§,'};y*°{,,g$‘ uable thing for or on account of procuring for or placing in a house for gauging ulnglucci of prostitution or elsewhere any female for the purpose o causin her h°b’°‘ °° ° °‘ ille lly to cohabit with any male person or persons shall be guigsy of a fdtlbny, and upon conviction thereof shall be imprisoned for not less than one nor more than tiveyears. Sec. 4. That any person who by force, fraud, intimidation, or threats caggggsggggk gg laces or leaves, or procures any other person or persons to place or in pmsmuueu, etc. lbave, his wife in a house of rostitution, or to ead a life of prostitution, shall be guilty of a feibny, and upon conviction thereof shall be imprisoned not less than one nor more than ten years. _ _ Sec. 5. That any person or persons who attempt to detain any girl ¤_§;ggi;1;:§§g{€f&‘é1ig; or woman in a disorderly house or house of prostitution because of omenynouse cement any debt or debts she has contracted, or is said to have contracted, “‘°‘°°°°““°‘°"· while living in said house of prostitution or disorderly house shall be guilty of a felony, and on conviction thereof be imprisoned for a term not less than one nor more than five years.
