Preamble . cer ta in other islands of the Samoan group lying be tw een the Cessions by chiefs of . thirteenth and fifteenth degrees of latitude south of the Equator and between the one hundred and sixty-seventh and one hundred and seventy-first degrees of longitude west of Greenwich, herein referred to as the islands of eastern Samoa, having in due form agreed t o cede a bsolutel y and wi thout re serve to the Unit ed State s of America all rights of sovereignty of whatsoever kind in and over these islands of the Samoan group by their acts dated April 10, 1900, and July 16, 1904 : Therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of A merica in Congress assemble d, That (a) said Acceptance, etc ., of cessions are accepted, ratified, and confirmed, as of April 10, 1900, cessions. and July 16, 1904, respectively . (b) The existing laws of the United States relative to public lands Land laws of United shall not apply to such lands in the said islands of eastern Samoa; States not applicabl e, but the Congress of the United States shall enact special laws for their management and disposition : Provided, That all reven ue fr om Proviso. or proceeds of the same, except as regards such part thereof as may Use of revenues . b e used or occupied for the civil, military, or naval purposes of the United States or may be assigned for the use of the local govern- ment, s hall be used sol ely for the bene fit of t he inhab itants of the said islands of ea stern Samoa for educational and other public purposes. (c) Unti l Co ngre ss s hall pro vide for the gov ernm ent of s uch PrPoders vested in the island s, all c ivil, ju dicial, and mili tary pow ers shal l be ves ted in such person or persons and shall be exercised in such manner as the President of the United States shall direct; and the President shall have power to remove said officers and fill the vacancies so occasi oned . Composition . the said islands of eastern Samoa, who shall, as soon as reasonably practicable, recommend to Congress such legislation concerning the islands of eastern Samoa as they shall deem necessary or proper . e The sum of $25,000, or so much thereo f as may be necessary, for Amo unt exp ens es, aut hori zed is hereby au tho ri zed to be app ro pri at ed, out of any mon ey in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be expended at the dis- cretion of the President of the United States of America, for the purpose of carrying this joint resolution into effect . R .16279.] the construction of a bridge across the Ohio River at Augusta, Kentucky .

Senate and House of Representatives of the United States o f America in Congress assembled, That the times for Oh io River . exten ded for commencing and completing the construction of the bridge across the bridging, at Augusta, Oh io Ri ver at Augusta, Kentucky, authorized to be bu ilt byJ.C. $Ante, p .435 . Norris, as mayor of the city of Augusta, Kentucky, his successors and assigns, by the Act of Con gr ess approved Ap ril 20, 19 28, are hereby extended one and three years, respectively, from April 20, 1929 .
