Aug.19, 29, 1940 Sept. 19, Oct. 11, 1940 For the purposes of this concurrent resolution, the committee, or any duly authorized subcommittee thereof, is authorized to hold such hearings, to sit and act at such times and places during the sessions, recesses, and adjourned periods of the Seventy-sixth and succeeding Congresses, to employ such clerical and other assistants, to require by subpena or otherwise the attendance of such witnesses and the production of such correspondence, books, papers, and docu- ments, to administer such oaths, to take such testimony, and to make such expenditures, as it deems advisable. The cost of stenographic services to report such hearings shall not be in excess of 25 cents per hundred words. The expenses of the committee, which shall not exceed $10,000, shall be paid one-half from the contingent fund of the Senate and one-half from the contingent fund of the House of Repre- sentatives, upon vouchers approved by the chairman of the committee. EXCESS PROFITS TAXATION ACT FOR 1940 Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That, in accordance with paragraph 3 of section 2 of the Printing Act approved March 1, 1907, the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives be, and is hereby, authorized and empowered to have printed for its use three thousand additional copies of the hearings, held before said committee during the current session, on proposed legislation relative to the Excess Profits Taxation Act for 1940. TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1940 Resolved by the Hlouse of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That there be printed sixty thousand additional copies of Public Law Numbered 785, current Congress, entitled "Transportation Act of 1940", of which ten thousand copies shall be for the use of the Senate document room and fifty thousand copies shall be for the use of the House document room.
