Gosencote Gosecote Gosecot 4. Franland Frandone Franelund V Franlund I Franelun / Modern Form j Guthlaxton (Sparkenhoe . Gartree I East Gosecote 1 West Gosecote Framland Guthlaxton and Gosecote wapentakes were divided in 1346 ; with this exception the Leicester wapentakes seem to have continued substantially unchanged. The hints given by the Domesday rubrication are, as far as it goes, borne out by the fuller evidence of the Leicester Survey ; thus the curious way in which Gartree, Gosecote, and Framland wapentakes are inter- mingled along the Rutland border appears in Domesday as well as in the later survey. There can also be traced a distinct system in the rubri- cation, by which the wapentakes referred to in each fief tend to follow each other in the order. Guthlaxton, Gartree, Gosecote, Framland. No hint is given of the series of ' hundreds ' whose existence is revealed in the later Leicester Survey. 338
