@Inductiveload: Thanks for the clarification in history. I'm still lost with regard to content and syntax. &nbsp ? Page 47—I want to separate the "II" as well.Klarm768 (talk) 20:32, 29 November 2017 (UTC) I should have writtien page 46. Klarm768 (talk) 20:38, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Klarm768: For the {{sp}} template, we have the following problem, specific to text with a space one character from the end:
  • If you do {{lsp|0.7em|WORD}}., you get a space between "D" and ".": "WORD."
  • If you do {{lsp|0.7em|WOR}}D., you get no space after "D", which is usually how it's typeset in books: "WORD."
  • If you try that with "PART I", you do {{lsp|0.7em|PART }}I. and find that because is ends in a space, it "goes wierd" and doesn't expand after the space: "PART I." This is much more noticable with wider spacings that the default.
  • So you use a "non-breaking" space (entered as  ) to trick it into putting the expanded space back: {{lsp|0.7em|PART }}I.: "PART I."
Clear as mud, right?
Notice that all of these copy-paste as "WORD." and "PART I." respectively, with no spaces between letters. Inductiveloadtalk/contribs 21:45, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
